Coppery Brown Variant
This herbaceous perennial from the Gesneriaceae family is commonly grown as a houseplant. It needs lots of bright, indirect light and well-drained potting soil. They are very attractive in hanging baskets and have a creeping habit. Water moderately to keep the soil moist in the summer and seldom in the winter. They need high humidity but do not tolerate water on their leaves.
Dainty, tubular flowers rise above the foliage and are typically red, but may be available in orange, pink or yellow. They flare out at the tips like trumpets and are sometimes fringed at the edges. Deep in the center of the trumpet is a yellow eye.
Prefers interior settings with medium light, moist soil and medium to high relative humidity; intolerant of constant cold drafts or dry air; Pest/disease problems.
